      (1888–1976), German-born US artist, designer, and teacher. He taught at the Bauhaus until 1933, and his work was strongly influenced by constructivism. He later emigrated to the US, where he was instrumental in disseminating Bauhaus principles through his teaching work. He is best known for his series of abstract canvases Homage to the Square, which he began in 1950.
